This
CD is a first generation soundboard recording which has
been digitally cleaned up and restored for release on CD.
We felt this would be a worthwhile release as a lot of these
songs have never been released in live form previously and
two of them “Long Holiday” and “Back Together Again” never
been released at all on CD before.
The
recording is also interesting as it shows the band on the
older songs starting to stretch out a bit in comparison
to trimmed down versions on the 1983 Marquee/Reading recordings.
The slide intro to Ride and The View is starting to develop, “The Storm Interlude” makes an appearance in MACBFGU and
Micky is starting to experiment more with delay in the middle
section of “C’Mon” (as he also does elsewhere on this recording).
As
was common with this line up the songs are played faster
and harder than by previous and subsequent lineups of the
group. MACBFGU in particular is played at a notably faster
pace than other live versions available.
The
gig is on the bands home turf or as Deke puts it "back
in civilisation" at the now demolished Crosskeys Institute
in South Wales. The CD features the whole gig apart from
the encore which apart from a minute or so of “Bananas” was not recorded.
Proceeds from the sale of this CD will be used to fund studio time to record a new Man CD. For more info click here
